You’ll enjoy visiting Petts Wood and Orpington Chess Club. You don’t have to live locally: if you can get to the club, you are welcome to join us. Our members range in age from 5 to over 75.

We have over 100 junior and 25 adult members, ranging in strength from beginner to Candidate Master level. So you should find plenty of players at your own level for an enjoyable game where the chances are even.

We are a friendly club. Your first visit is free of charge; we introduce you to someone of probable similar strength for a friendly game; we give you an estimated grade after you’ve played a few games against graded opponents; and if you want to play in matches against other clubs, we’ll do our best to include you in one of our many squads so you get some serious games in the season. Teaching sessions are available to juniors at three levels of ability.

We have members whose families originated in a wide range of countries: China, Cyprus, England, France, Germany, Iran, Ireland, India, Japan, Lithuania, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Scotland, Slovakia, Sri Lanka, Ukraine and Vietnam.

Here are profiles of a few of our members.
